Gym Equipment Removal in Singapore
That treadmill has been doubling as a clothes rack for two years. Or maybe you bought a full squat rack during the circuit-breaker era and now the spare room needs to become a nursery. Either way, you're staring at 80–120 kg of steel, rubber and motor housing that won't fit through your front door without a plan.
We've spent over a decade clearing home gyms, condo fitness corners, and repurposed bedrooms across every district in Singapore. Gym equipment is among the most awkward residential removal work we do — not because it's complicated, but because it's heavy in all the wrong places and rarely fits standard doorways once assembled.
How We Actually Handle Gym Equipment
A treadmill isn't one piece. The motor and running deck concentrate most of the weight in the base — typically 60 to 100 kg for a mid-range unit. Even "foldable" models rarely fold compact enough to stand upright in a passenger lift. Our crew of two to four will partially disassemble the frame on-site: removing the console, detaching handrails, and separating the deck from the uprights where the design allows. That gets it through doorframes and into the lift without gouging walls.
Weight plates and dumbbells present the opposite problem. They're small but absurdly dense. A stack of cast-iron Olympic plates can easily hit 150 kg, and loading all of that onto a single trolley run risks damaging flooring or exceeding lift weight limits. We split plate loads across multiple trips and use trolleys rated for the weight. If you're clearing an entire home gym — bench, barbell, plates, cable machine — expect us to bring a larger crew and possibly a lorry rather than a van.
Exercise bikes and ellipticals sit somewhere in between. Lighter than a treadmill (usually 30–50 kg), but wide and awkward to angle through corridors. Flywheel-equipped spin bikes carry their weight low and forward, which makes stairwell work tricky. We disassemble pedals, seats, and handlebars to reduce the profile before moving.
If you're also clearing furniture from the same room, bundling everything into one job is almost always more efficient. Our same-day furniture removal service handles exactly that kind of combined clearance, subject to availability.
HDB Flats
HDB blocks don't have service lifts. Your gym equipment rides the same passenger lift as your neighbours, so timing matters — early morning or mid-afternoon avoids the worst congestion. For walk-up blocks without a lift, surcharges apply for stairwell carry-down, and we'll confirm that at the quoting stage. Town councils do offer bulky-item collection, but they require you to dismantle items first and bring them to the collection point yourself. A 90 kg treadmill in pieces, carried down four flights by you, on the council's schedule — that's the alternative.
Condos and Landed Properties
Condo removals involve your building's MCST rules. You'll need to book the service lift and arrange any required lift padding with your management office before our arrival — every building runs this differently, and it's the owner or tenant's responsibility to secure that approval. If you're working toward a move-out or handover deadline, get the lift booking sorted early. Our condo disposal guide covers the MCST process in more detail, and for units on higher floors, our high-floor removal tips are worth a read before booking day.
Where Your Equipment Goes Afterwards
Steel frames, cast-iron plates, and aluminium components recycle well. We route metal-heavy items through licensed intermediaries who sort and process ferrous and non-ferrous scrap. Treadmill motors contain copper windings that also have recycling value. Rubber mats and plastic housings are harder to recycle and typically go through general waste processing. Equipment in working condition may be routed for reuse where a channel exists, but we can't guarantee it — and we don't pay for items collected, regardless of condition or brand.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you buy or offer trade-in value for gym equipment that's still working? No. Junk Express is a disposal service. We don't purchase, buy back, or offer credit for any items we collect, even if the equipment is in good working order or carries a premium brand name. Our quote covers the labour, transport, and responsible disposal of your items.
Can you remove a treadmill from a high-floor unit with only a passenger lift? Yes, and we do it regularly. Our crew partially disassembles the treadmill on-site to reduce its dimensions and weight per piece, then moves it in stages. For condos, you'll need to have the service lift booked and any MCST requirements arranged before our arrival. Surcharges may apply for after-hours jobs or stairwell access.
How quickly can you collect gym equipment? We work to the tightest window your job allows, subject to availability. Urgent requests can often be accommodated, though additional charges may apply. Send us photos of the equipment and your preferred timing via WhatsApp, and we'll confirm what's possible.
