Maybe the new mattress-and-frame set is already on its way from the warehouse. Maybe your tenancy ends this week and the landlord's final inspection is booked. Or a weekend viewing is locked in and that battered divan in the master bedroom sends the wrong message. Whatever the deadline, the bed frame won't walk itself out.
Bed frames are awkward to get rid of on your own. A queen-size steel or wooden slatted frame, once dismantled, breaks down into long panels and side rails that are manageable but numerous — easily six to eight separate pieces plus a bag of bolts. A storage bed or divan is a different problem entirely. The base is a single upholstered box, often fitted with hydraulic gas-lift pistons, and it will not fit through a standard doorway without tilting and careful manoeuvring. Some storage beds weigh upward of 40–50 kg for the base alone, before you even account for the mattress on top.
Town councils will collect bulky items from HDB estates, but only if you've already dismantled them yourself and placed the pieces at the designated bulk-item point on the correct collection day. If you don't own the right tools or the time to strip a bed frame down, that option stalls before it starts.
What Actually Happens When We Remove a Bed Frame
We've dismantled hundreds of bed frames across Singapore over the past decade — from IKEA MALM slatted frames that come apart with an Allen key, to solid teak platform beds bolted together with carriage bolts, to hydraulic storage beds where the gas pistons need to be depressurised and detached before the base can be separated from the lift mechanism.
A slatted frame job is usually straightforward: two crew members unbolt the headboard, footboard, and side rails, stack the slats, and carry everything out in a single trip. A storage bed or divan takes longer. The upholstered base is bulky and rigid, and in many bedrooms there's barely enough clearance to tilt it past the door frame. Our crew will angle and pivot it through, protecting walls and door edges as they go. For super-king or oversized bases that genuinely cannot clear a corridor, we cut the fabric shell and break the internal timber frame down on-site.
Crew size depends on what you've got. A single slatted frame is a two-person job. A storage bed plus mattress plus headboard, especially on a higher floor, typically needs three.
HDB and Condo Considerations
In an HDB flat, everything goes through the standard passenger lift. Long side rails ride diagonally; the storage-bed base may need to stand on its edge. Stairwell carry is possible for walk-up blocks, though surcharges apply for stairs.
For condos and commercial properties, the owner or tenant needs to arrange any required MCST approval and service-lift booking ahead of our arrival. If building management requires lift padding, that's arranged between you and the MCST directly. We work within whatever access window you've secured. Where the Frame Goes Afterwards
Steel frames and metal components get routed to metal recyclers. Timber from slatted frames and internal base structures goes through proper recycling channels where the wood grade allows it. Upholstery fabric and composite panels that can't be recycled are sent to licensed intermediaries for further sorting before final disposal. Frames and bases still in usable condition get directed toward reuse where possible. Nothing sits in your corridor or void deck — it leaves with us.
